Outlook 2016 oab not updating in cached mode

Below is how I troubleshooted this error, the OAB had become corrupt so I had to create a new one.

If you are not seeing correct contact information in the GAL for someone that has a valid email address (i.e.

someone who just received a CUMC email account, a new student, someone who recently changed their directory information) please use the steps below to synchronize your computer's locally cached version of the GAL.

This means when you are out and about you have a cached copy of the GAL in your OAB, confusing maybes, I know.

So the issue my client had was as the OAB had become corrupt then they where not seeing new users added to the GAL in exchange 2010.

When connected to Exchange messages will arrive with a slight delay in the mailbox.

It can be accessed when using a CUMC email (@cumc.columbia.edu) account with Outlook or when logged in to the Outlook Web App.

I saw this related question: Exchange 2010 offline address book does not update but the answer's blog post no longer exists.

If I create a new mailbox, and even if I manually update the OAB and then go into Outlook (in cached mode) and download OAB updates, it still doesn't show the new mailbox in Outlook 2010 until the next day.

There is no GUI management tool of offline address book as of now.

Here, I will show steps to configure offline address book in Exchange 2013.
